Tulalah's Story

I was just about to turn 19 and I was pregnant. This happened while I was in college and I knew that I could not have the child. Not because I didn't want children, but I was not ready to take the responsibility for another life when I couldn't really provide for myself.

I told my friend, older brother, and closest cousin. They convinced me that I should tell my parents. I was reluctant at first, but it all came out and they were there for me when I had the abortion.

The father of the child was someone who I thought I loved and returned those feelings, but when this all happened I learned very quickly he didn't. Since I had the abortion there is not one day that I don't think about what might have been, but I know it was the right decision. My life will never be the same again, but it was good to know that I had a choice. My relationship with my family is different but it felt good to know that they will be there no matter the problem.
