Your slumber is the bitter pill
that separates us tonight
I try to find respite
between your snores
Might a gentle touch
elicit a response?
No such luck!
The time for a kiss has
come and gone

Sleep eludes me
Yet, when I turn again
to pen and paper
waves of sleep,
stop my pen
Is this automatic writing?
The work of a ghost or spirit
No seance has occurred--
Only a woman trying
to marry sleep and love
