Loretta Ross speaks in Seattle

We are pleased to welcome Loretta Ross to Seattle. Loretta is one of four authors of the 2005 book Undivided Rights: Women of Color Organize for Reproductive Justice.

  • Friday evening Feb 17 at 7 pm with a reception at 6:30 - Loretta will sign books and speak at Langston Hughes Performing Arts Center(104 - 17th Ave. S.) in Seattle - speech entitled "Organizing for Reproductive Justice: Women of Color: Sistersong's Vision for Bridging the Race and Class Divide in the Women's Movement" FREE
  • Saturday evening Feb 18 at Amnesty International Human Rights Film Festival with Loretta Ross signing books at 8:30 pm and introducing films at 9 pm. Showing Amnesty International's Stop the Violence Against Women at the NW Film Forum on Capitol Hill in Seattle

Loretta Ross is a the national coordinator of SisterSong Women of Color Reproductive Health Collective composed of 70 women of color groups around the country. In 2004, Loretta served as National Co-Director of the April 25, 2004 March for Women's Lives in Washington DC.

Loretta Ross is the founder and former Executive Director of the National Center for Human Rights Education (NCHRE), a training and resource center for grassroots activists on using human rights education to address social injustices in the United States. Prior to that, from 1990 to 1995, she served as the national program research director for the Atlanta-based Center for Democratic Renewal (CDR) (formerly the National Anti-Klan Network). Center for Democratic Renewal is a national, non-profit clearinghouse for information on hate groups and bigoted violence, including the Ku Klux Klan and the neo-Nazi movement. Ross directed specific projects on far right organizations in South Africa and Ku Klux Klan and neo-Nazi involvement in anti-abortion violence in the U.S.
